Creating & configuring Projects

What is a Project?

The Project is the middle level – an initiative, campaign or engagement belonging to an account. Below it lie the bookable Jobs.

How to create a Project

1. Open the relevant Account (Manage → Accounts → click the name).
2. In the project table, click New project (create element).
3. Enter a name and confirm.

Clicking the project name opens the project detail page with its jobs.

Click Edit to open the properties:

Budget

A project can have a budget – either in hours or money:

• Choose the budget type: None · Hours · Money.
• For hours: budget hours (and optionally a hard limit).
• For money: budget amount + currency.
• Optionally a period (from–to) during which consumption is counted.

Consumption is shown as a colored bar/gauge (green → yellow → red) on the Budgets page and in the management area.

Hourly rate inheritance

When booking, the most specific rate available always applies:

Job rate → otherwise Project rate → otherwise Account rate

This way you maintain a default at the top and only deviate where needed.

Tips & pitfalls

• A money budget suits fixed, pre-sold quotas; for hours-based work use an hours budget with a limit.
• For more formal customers, a real purchase order with automatic assignment is worth more than a simple budget.
• An account’s internal default project (for jobs that hang directly off the account) does not appear as a normal project in the list.
